The Games Of The Future (GOF)
Game Rules Explained
Teams of 2 to 4 players: Each match has two stages.

2️⃣ Physical Stage: 7-minute match that carries over the digital score and is played to 39 points in a 2v2 format on a half-court with one basket.
💥 Who Wins? The team with the highest combined score across the physical and digital stages! If it’s a tie, the match is decided by a series of three free throws.

Team Requirements
Athletes Required: 2–4
(minimum of 2 must compete, minimum age: 16)
Staff: Optional for Phygital Games USA; up to 5 staff members allowed.
Winning teams receive travel support for 3 players in the original roster and 1 reinforcement or members of the original team, as well as 1–2 staff.
Reinforcements:
–> 30% of the original roster in the tournament in the US can be replaced for the International Qualifiers in Dubai.
–> 30% of the roster that participates in the International Qualifiers can be replaced for the main Games of The Future event.
Therefore, there are two opportunities to reinforce winning teams towards the international competitions to maximize the Club’s chance of winning.
Tournament Format
General Overview: The competition begins with a group stage, in which teams compete in groups of 4 in a GSL “without a fifth match” elimination format.
GSL Elimination: The “GSL without a 5th Match” format is a system of matches at the group stage, in which all group members play 2 matches in the following order:
1. In the 1st round, the group members are divided into pairs by draw;
2. The winners of each pair meet in the second round to play the match for the first and second place in the group, respectively the winner of this match takes 1st place in the group, while the loser takes 2nd place;
3. The teams that lost in the first round compete against each other in the second round in a match for 3rd and 4th place. The winner of this match takes 3rd place in the group, while the loser takes 4th place.
Progression: Teams ranked 1st in their groups advance directly to the quarterfinals and teams ranked 4th get eliminated. The losers of the Winner’s Match play the winners of the Loser’s Match in a decisive match to determine progression.
Technical Rules
Scoring system: Each match starts with a digital stage and continues with a physical stage. Teams score points on each stage. The winner is determined by the team that has the highest cumulative score in both stages.
Digital Stage:
Video Game: The videogame version used is NBA2k24.
Game mode: PLAY NOW / BLACKTOP / 2 VS 2.
Other specs: Half Court; 2K Arena camera; Difficulty level: Hall of fame. There are no restrictions on the rules of the game in defense and offense, any techniques provided by the game can be used for winning the game.
Characters: Teams can choose any character whose rating does not exceed 97 from the All-Time team list (NBA and Classic team lists are forbidden to choose from) to participate in the Digital Stage.
Athletes: Two athletes of each team must play this stage on a 2v2 format.
Scoring: The Digital stage ends after one of the teams scores 19 (nineteen) points. If one of the teams scores 19 (nineteen) points, but the point difference with the opposing team does not reach two points, the Digital stage still ends. If a team scores 20 (twenty) points, this score is also recorded, and the Digital stage ends.
Physical Stage:
Athletes: Each team is represented by 2 (two) athletes in a match. The remaining athlete in the team is a substitute and may enter the game during the match.
Court: The game is played on a 3×3 court with one basket. The playing surface of a standard 3×3 court has dimensions of 40 ft (width) x 30 ft (length).
Scoring: The match ends either with one of the teams scoring 39 (thirty nine) points or with the game time (one 7-minute half) expiring.
For each match, a team may nominate no more than 3 athletes from the total tournament entry list!
